Former FAA Acting Administrator Joseph Del Balzo founded JDA Aviation Technology Solutions in 1994. A technical services and consulting firm, JDA specializes in developing solutions for scheduled airlines, charter operators, corporate aviation, aircraft manufacturers and component suppliers, repair stations, training centers, airports and airport authorities, technology companies, developers and legal firms.

Initially, JDA offered a wide range of communications, navigation, surveillance/Air Traffic Management (CNS/ATM), airport and airspace planning services-and quickly added safety, security, training and technology transfer services to its portfolio.

One of the first certification consultants

In September 2005, after responding to an FAA Notice, JDA became one of the first two companies qualified as an FAA Certification Consultant for Part 121 new entrants. Certification requires arduous FAA training and scrutiny. In March 2008, the FAA renewed JDA's Certification Qualification for an additional two years.

In 2005, Republic Airlines contracted JDA to lead their new certification application as well as create its entire manual system. With JDA's assistance, Republic Airlines was certified as a Part 121 air carrier in 2005.

Today JDA is one of the leading aviation industry consultants-delivering innovative solutions for over 100 clients in certification and safety management, compliance, real estate development, technology infusion, litigation and organization/management.

The company's client base includes many of the leading aviation and aerospace companies and airports in the country, including American Airlines, Southwest Airlines, Republic Airlines, Piedmont Airlines, Sentient Flight Group, Frontier/Lynx Airlines, CJ Systems Aviation, NetJets, Bombardier Aviation, Lockheed Martin, and ITT.

JDA also represents ESCO, which manufactures and installs the Engineered Material Arrestor System (EMAS), the FAA certified breakaway-concrete surface installed at the end of runways to provide overrun protection.
